Robert “Robbie” Grotton, 42, of Jefferson, passed away July 25 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Augusta on Aug. 6, 1969 to Sheldon E. and H. June (Cooper) Grotton.
Robbie attended and graduated from Erskine Academy in 1987. He grew up working in blueberry fields with his family and continued that work after graduating high school. He worked for R.T. Allen & Sons in Union for about 16 years, until he became too ill to work.
Robbie met his wife, Lisa in 2001, they were married on July 20, 2002. Robbie was a wonderful husband and father, as well as brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Robbie enjoyed working on vehicles, building things, snow plowing, traveling, NASCAR, mud running (especially with his black and purple truck), and spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by father, Sheldon E. Grotton; mother, H. June Grotton; and sisters, Brenda and Lorraine Grotton, and Donna Bechard.
Robbie is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lisa of Jefferson; step children, Kristen Andrews, Michael Robertson Jr., and “baby girl,” Helena Robertson, all of Jefferson; brothers, Mike Grotton and wife Evalina of Coopers Mills, Tim Grotton and wife Theresa of Weeks Mill, Russell Grotton and partner Dwight Harbor of Gore, Okla., and Jeffery Grotton and wife Pam of Jefferson; sisters, Sharon Grotton and partner Lenny Bechard of Jefferson and Debbie Grotton and partner James McGowan of Jefferson; and many very special nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
At Robbie’s request, there will be no formal service, but there will be a celebration of his life 1 p.m., Sun., Aug. 5 at Robbie and Lisa’s home at 100 Munsey Rd., in Jefferson.
Arrangements are by Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
