Robert S. Jones, 65, of Warren, died Nov. 20 at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert Virgil Jones and Jacqueline Gray Jones. He grew up in Iowa and then moved to Westport, Conn. at the age of 12.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He married Nancy Tefft Jones in 1973. He worked as a boat builder, mechanic and chef for many years. He began making raku pottery in the early 1990s. He opened Ridgeback Pottery in Wiscasset across from Red’s Eats, naming it after his Rhodesian ridgeback dog.
Bob was a supreme chef who could create wonderful meals out of anything. He had a great sense of putting things together that tasted really good. He enjoyed gardening, and building a pole barn for his wife’s horses. He was a tender, loving father, who was proud of his children and grandchildren. He was compassionate, opinionated, and very talented at most anything he put his mind to.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy T. Jones of Warren; daughter, Jamie Adele Le and husband Binh of Fremont, Cal.; son, Eric Steven Jones and wife Mariccela of Sterling, Va.; sister, Jan McCoy of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Craig Jones of Georgia; and grandchildren, Genevieve Blanca Jones of Sterling, Va., and Kai Robert Le of Fremont, Cal.
A family gathering will be held to celebrate Bob’s life.
