Robert Yates Poland, 90, of Damariscotta, passed away on the evening of April 26 at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus. Born on March 30, 1926 in Round Pond, he was the son of Mabel Yates and Harold Eugene Poland.
Robert grew up in Round Pond, attending and graduating from Bristol schools. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII from 1943 to 1946.
He worked as a truck driver for many years throughout his life. In recent years, he was an active, and much loved, volunteer at Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta.
He is survived by his loving companion of many years, Nellie G. Leeman; several nieces, nephews; and one cousin.
At his request, there will be no formal service. He will be laid to rest in the Chamberlain Cemetery in Round Pond.
