Robin Robert Anderson, 51, of Newcastle, died unexpectedly at his home on May 8. He was the son of Curtis and Lucille (Jones) Anderson, and was born on Feb. 2, 1957 in San Pedro, Cal. He grew up in Torrance, Cal. and graduated from Torrance High School in 1975. While at Torrance High School, he was a member of the school singing group, The Troubadours. He and the other members of the group attended the Hawaiian Festival of Music in 1972-73 where they placed second. They also produced an album.
His first work experience was at the Todd Shipyard and with Van Lining Towing in California. He came to Maine in 1980 and began work at Hunt Brothers Lumber. He also worked at the Strong Funeral Home and was a reserve officer for the Damariscotta Police Department. He later went on to work at Maine Yankee as a security guard. Next he worked briefly for Masters Machine Shop before going to work for Salt Bay Towing for 10 years. Then he briefly owned and operated his own towing service. Prior to this death, he was working for Salt Bay Taxi Service. He was also a volunteer fireman for the town of Bristol from 1980 to 1998.
He was predeceased by his father, Curtis Anderson; his mother, Lucille (Jones) Anderson; and his baby brother, Ronnie.
He is survived by his two sons, John Michael Anderson of Round Pond and girlfriend Chelsea Pinkham, and Matthew Christopher Anderson of Round Pond and girlfriend Kristen Ramile; ex-wife, Maureen (Seiders) Anderson; brother, Curtis Anderson and wife Beverly of Torrance, Cal.; two sisters, Donna (Anderson) Ayala and husband Louie of Erie, Col. and Brenda (Anderson) Needham and husband Todd of Murrieta, Cal.; four nieces; one step-niece; one nephew; several great nieces and nephews; and maternal uncles, Wallace Leeman and wife Kathy, Don Leeman and wife Marilyn, Clifton Leeman and Arnold Leeman, as well as many cousins.
Visiting hours 5 7 p.m., Mon., May 19 at the Strong Funeral Home. There will be a private family graveside service on May 20.
