Rodney Eugene Chapman, 55, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Dec. 4 at the LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta. Born on Aug. 14, 1959 in Damariscotta, he was the son of the late Russell and Esther (Alley) Chapman.
Rodney grew up in Bristol, and resided there for most of his life. Upon finishing school, he spent many years as a clam digger and then worked for Hanley’s Construction. He eventually found his passion as a woodsman and was known for being a hard worker.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, and spent many evenings at the Wiscasset Raceway. He was kind at heart, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He had a quirky sense of humor, and was known to make anybody laugh.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Adrian Chapman.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather Cash and husband Richard, Jessica Chadwick and husband Casey, and Angela Soto and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Keisha, Cheyenne, Allison, Jillian, Sean, Jonathan, and Austin; nephew, Jody Reed and wife Jodi; and niece, Tammy Reed.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wed., Dec. 17 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. He will be laid to rest privately in the Bristol Mills Cemetery. A gathering will follow the service at 55 Baywoods Rd. in Bristol.
