Roger A. Grover, 76, of Bremen and formerly of Rowley, Mass., passed away Oct. 19 in Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. He was the husband of Eileen (Suurhans) Grover.
Mr. Grover was born in Rowley, Mass., Jan. 27, 1934, son of the late William S. and Janibelle (Savage) Grover.
Roger entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 where he was trained as an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic Transport Specialist; he earned an honorable discharge in 1955. After leaving the Air Force he enrolled in an Engineering curriculum at the Lowell Textile University (now known as the Lowell Technology Institute). After three years of education and experience he went to work for Itek Corporation as a Test Engineer. He spent 12 years at Itek where he received specialized training at Northwest University sponsored by the institute of Environmental Science. He was appointed to Department Manager and developed an additional Environmental Test Facility. He later was the President and Owner of the Anders Corporation in Simsbury, Conn.
In addition to his career as an Engineer he was also one of two Constables in the Town of Granby, Conn. Roger eventually became the Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Bremen and he was on the Bremen Fire Department.
Among his hobbies he was an umpire for the Town of Granby, Conn. Little League and Pop Warner Leagues. He was a member of the New England Association of Chief of Police.
In addition to his wife, Eileen, he is survived by daughter, Cheryl Hajek of Plymouth; brother, Donald G. Grover of Kensington, N.H.; and sisters, Ruth C. Martin of Peterborough, N.H. and Lucy S. Parella of Exeter, N.H.
