Roger W. Bramhall, 72, of Friendship, beloved husband of Verna Studley Bramhall, died unexpectedly Jan. 22 at PenBay Medical Center’s Emergency Department in Rockport.
Born in Waldoboro, Oct. 19, 1939, he was the son of Philip L. and Thelma Simmons Bramhall. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Waldoboro High School, class of 1958.
May 31, 1958, he married Verna M. Studley in Rockland. Except for a brief period in earlier years, they made their home in Friendship all their married lives.
Throughout his career he has worked as a lobster dealer.
At the age of 15, Roger joined the Friendship Fire Department and as of this date, had served more than 56 years with the fire department, 15 of those years as Deputy Chief. He also served the Town of Friendship several years as Constable and Selectman. He was also a long time member of the Knox County Firefighters Association and a member of the Cushing Fire Department.
A life-long dedicated member of the Friendship Advent Christian Church, he served as Deacon, youth group leader and Trustee.
Besides his wife of 53 years, Verna, Roger is survived by daughter Susan Simmons and husband Virgil ‘Butch’; sons, Philip Bramhall and wife Susan, and Scott Bramhall; brother, Paul Bramhall and wife Joyce, all of Friendship; sister, Roselin ‘Ronnie’ Severson and husband Albert of Waldoboro; grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Cynthia Simmons, Greg and Stacy Simmons, Amanda and Ben Lash, Alison Bramhall and fiancé Sam Hyler, Curtis Bramhall, and Erika Bramhall; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, Lydia, Connor, Madi, Oliver and Noah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 26, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland. Pastor Alan Chamberlin will officiate. Interment will follow in Harbor View Cemetery, Friendship.
