Roland R. Woessner, 64, loving husband, dedicated father, proud grandfather and motorcycle enthusiast, died peacefully at his home on April 6. Roland was born Feb. 8, 1942 in Teaneck, N.J., the third son of the late Frederick and Bertha (Lohbeck) Woessner. He was a graduate of Teaneck High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University. On April 1, 1967, he married Janet Offermann in Spring Valley, N.Y. For many years, he worked as a respiratory therapist with Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. Roland was a member of the National Association of Respiratory Therapists. Five years ago, Roland realized his dream of moving to Maine, where he and his wife of 39 years, Janet, made a home in Newcastle. Roland continued his career at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, became an enthusiastic member of the BMW Riders of Southern Maine, and made many new friends. Roland and his family especially appreciated the aid and comfort of Roland’s friends and colleagues in Maine in the last year of his life. Roland is survived by his wife Janet; sons, Bernard of Denver, Col., and Paul of Paterson, N.J.; brothers, Frederick of West Hollywood, Cal., and Bernard of Santa Rosa, Cal.; and grandchildren, Sam, Wyatt and Mia, to whom he was known as "Pop-Pop." Private services will be held at the convenience of Roland’s family.
