Ronald A. Leach, 70, of Waldoboro, formerly of Kennebunkport, died Sept. 17 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following a long illness.
He was born in Biddeford on July 19, 1937, a son of Ralph W. and Verline I. (Wildes) Leach. He graduated from Kennebunk High School, class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958.
Ronald was a longtime lobsterman, fishing out of Cape Porpoise Harbor near Kennebunkport for over 30 years. He was also a farmer at his former home in Kennebunkport called the Century Oaks Farm for over 10 years, until 2002. In 2002, he and his wife moved to Waldoboro.
He was a member and past master of the Arundel Lodge #76 of Kennebunkport, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Portland, a former member of the Kora Shriners of Lewiston, and a member of the American Legion of Kennebunkport.
Ronald enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brother, Frederic Leach, who died in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 48 yrs, Ingeborg (Oefner) Leach of Waldoboro; son, Thomas (Tom) Leach and wife Karen of Arundel; grandchildren, Jamie Powers and Calli-Ann Leach, both of Arundel; aunt, Eva Colbath of Dover, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Wed., Sept. 19 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk with the Masonic Services at 7 p.m.
Funeral 11 a.m., Thurs., Sept. 20 at the Chapel. Interment will be at Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.
