Ronald “Charlie” Stanley Christie, of Jefferson, passed away on Nov. 6. He was born in Gardiner on Feb. 6, 1936 to Murvil and Alice Christie.
Charlie enjoyed NASCAR racing, collecting model cars, watching old Westerns, and listening to country music. He was known for his love of sweets and working in his vegetable garden. His favorite thing to do was sit under the old apple tree.
He worked in the past as a wood cutter and had many other odd jobs.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents, Murvil and Alice Christie; sister, Betty; and brothers, Richard “Skippy,” and Danny.
Charlie is survived by his children, Ronnie Hinckley and wife Sandra of Windsor, Debbie Swift and husband Brian of Chelsea, Stanley Christie and partner Melanie of West Gardiner, Pam Riley and partner John of Somerville; stepchildren, David Huntington and partner Linda of Jefferson, Billy Huntington and wife Annie of Utah, Pat Hinckley and wife Dottie of Pittston, Jenny Glidden and husband Leroy of Jefferson, and Diane Hinckley and partner Tim of Jefferson; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Murvil “Buster,” Alfred, Everett, Scott, and Johnny Christie; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends, Helen, Chucky Bowden, Jeffrey Grotton, Stan Crosby, and Warren Sidelinger.
As per Charlie’s request there will be no funeral. Celebration of life 5 p.m., Sun., Dec. 9 at the First Congregational Church of Pittston. Burial will be in the spring.
