Ronald Duncan, 65, of Whitefield, died unexpectedly on Nov. 18 at his home.
He was born June 3, 1942, the son of DeLeon and Julia (Dondero) Duncan in Trumbull, Conn.
His family moved to Maine in 1949. He attended local schools and graduated from Cony High School. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Ronald married Helene Morin on Nov. 18, 1967.
Prior to his retirement in 2001, he worked for the State of Maine, Bureau of Purchases for 25 years. He served on the Whitefield School Board for many years, coached T-ball and youth girls softball, and also served on the Erskine Academy Advisory School Board for several years. Since his retirement he had been an avid golfer.
He was predeceased by his parents; and four sisters, Corinne Duncan, Arlene Banks, Lorraine Duncan, and Jean Markatine.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Helene; daughters, Michelle Duncan Shaw and husband David of Whitefield and Erica McLennan and husband Adam of Waldorf, Md.; beloved grandchild, Andrew, who was his pride and joy; sisters, Dorothea Zabik of Jefferson, and Beverly Wilke of Pennsylvania; brothers, Hepburn Duncan of Pennsylvania, Daniel Duncan and wife Janice of Jefferson, and Frederick Butch Duncan and wife Nancy of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Bishop and brother-in-law, Edmond Morin, both of Farmingdale; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ronald will forever be remembered for his pride and dedication to his family, his community, and his country.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Fri., Nov. 23 at Plummer Funeral Home, Windsor Chapel, 983 Ridge Rd. (Rt. 32), Windsor.
Funeral 11 a.m., Sat., Nov. 24 at the funeral home.
Burial at a later date in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.
