Ronald “Ronnie” C. Weeks Sr., 67, of Jefferson, died at home after a long-fought battle with cancer on the morning of Friday, June 21, 2024.
Ronnie was born on Sept. 27, 1956, to Wilbur C. and Eda (Fancher) Weeks. He spent his childhood in Monmouth, and then after moving to Jefferson, graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1974.
Ronnie was employed for some time at Crowe Rope, but spent the majority of his life in and around the seafood industry. He was an alewife harvester and a lobsterman, fishing off his longtime boat F/V Miss Hana, out of Rockland. He also spent many years running Weeks’ Lobster, selling lobster and crabmeat from his home in Jefferson.
Ronnie was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed spending time at his camp in Lee, and then later in life, in Wellington. He was also a pillar of the snowmobile racing community, through which he accumulated many trophies. His Crabbies Racing team contended in many events, and even sponsored several. Ronnie had a love for the outdoors, and for his loyal Labrador companion, Soldier.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Ronald Weeks Jr.; and his brother, Jeffery K. Weeks.
Ronnie is survived by his sons, Kevin Weeks, and Jason Weeks and his partner, Leanna Bubier; daughter-in-law, Heidi Simmons; six grandchildren, Kylie, Addie, Sierra, Nelson, Jackson, and Lucy; sister-in-law, Tina Weeks; nephew, Chris Weeks; and niece, Elizabeth Weeks; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on a future date, to be determined, with a celebration of life to follow.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta, ME 04543. Condolences, and messages for his family, may be expressed by visiting stronghancock.com.
