Ronnie Hopkins, 60, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of May 31 at the LincolnHealth – Miles Campus after a period of declining health. Born in Augusta on March 12, 1955, he was the son of Mahlon and Barbara (Knox) Hopkins.
Ronnie grew up in Chamberlain and attended Bristol schools. He went on to attend Lincoln Academy and played several sports there, as well as football at Morse High School in Bath.
Upon finishing school, he went to work for Richard Storer for many years. In the early 1990s, he took a lot of what he learned from Richard, and started his own business as a mason. In 1999, he married his wife of 16 years, Therese Hopkins.
Ronnie loved watching all sports, especially basketball, baseball and wrestling. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed elvering, fishing, and especially hunting. He also enjoyed dogs, and had four who were the loves of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Therese; step-children, Melissa and husband Andy Crockett, Patricia Spinney-Gifford and husband Joey, and Richard Spinney, Jr. and wife Stacy; grandchildren, Shane McClintick, Casey Spinney McClintick, Justin Crockett, Makayla Crockett, Julianne Spinney, Camron, Roshin, Jaxon, Trey and Makenzie; sister, Heather Lewis and husband Bill; best friend, Vern Dobson; and son, Joey and wife Jessica.
A time of visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Mon., June 8 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta, ME.
