Rose D. Pitcher, 81, of Boothbay Harbor, died May 18 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. She was born March 19, 1929 in Litchfield, a daughter of Merle and Mabel Shepherd Dorr. She grew up in Litchfield and attended Morse High School.
She worked as a pharmacy tech at Eckerd’s Pharmacy in Clearwater, Fla. for 15 years. In Maine she worked as a cook at Irene’s Restaurant, the Bowling Alley and at Beanie’s Diner, all in Boothbay Harbor. She worked as a meter maid for the Boothbay Harbor Police Department for three years. She loved to play Beano, poker and cribbage. She also enjoyed knitting.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence “Beanie” Pitcher Sr. of Boothbay Harbor; sons, Stephen Pitcher of Boothbay Harbor and Lawrence “Larry” Pitcher of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Marcia Silverstein of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister, Myrle Gilkey of Florida; grandchildren, Shawn Pitcher of Boothbay Harbor, Renee Dombrowski of Kentucky, Stephanie Pitcher of Boothbay, Lori Rose Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Michael R. Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and great-granddaughter, Haley Holbrook of Boothbay.
