Roxianne Frances Wright, 56, of Southport, died Nov. 1, at her home. She died peacefully in her sleep after a long and courageous fight with brain cancer.
Born in the city of Bath on July 20, 1950, she was the daughter of Henry and Merleen (Morang) Wright. She grew up at Ocean Point in East Boothbay. There she loved the ocean and quiet life with her family.
Roxianne attended school in the Boothbay Region. She graduated from Boothbay Region High School in Boothbay Harbor as a member of the National Honor Society of secondary schools in 1968.
After high school Roxianne went on to four years at Husson College. She was elected to the 1970-71 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student. Roxianne graduated from Husson in 1972 with honors and other academic awards. She earned a B.S. in secretarial science.
After leaving Husson she worked 9 years at the Boothbay Register.
Roxianne spent many summer weekends at the Spruce Point Inn behind the reception desk. She also worked at other local business stores. She spent the last 20 years working at the Superintendent of Schools office in Boothbay. She loved working with the community. She greeted all with a warm smile and a helping hand if needed.
To relax Roxianne would read and she loved to write in journals, enjoyed scrapbooking or e-mailing her friends.
She was a member of the Boothbay Region Pantry Board of Directors for nine years and its secretary for seven of those years.
Roxianne is survived by her husband of ten years, Jeff Keyes of Southport; one son, Scott Keyes and wife Jonbree of Norfolk, Va.; mother, Merleen Morang of Woolwich; sisters, Cherylee Washburn and husband Karl of Yardville, N.J. and Lori Morang of Rochester, N.Y.; brother, Greg Wright and wife Maude of Boothbay; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Service to glorify God and to commemorate Roxianne’s life 11 a.m., Sat., Dec. 2 at the Boothbay Baptist Church. This will be followed by a catered reception at the Boothbay American Legion Hall from 1-4 p.m. to reminisce, tell stories and enjoy refreshments.
Private family burial will take place next Spring off Ocean Point in East Boothbay.
