Roy Lee Ingling, 56, of Washington, died Jan. 16 at the home of a friend after a long illness.
Roy was born Sept. 7, 1951, in Mount Holly, N.J., the son of Eber and Dorothy Nicholson Ingling. He was a graduate of Rancocas High School, Mount Holly, N.J.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed from 1973-1988 with U.S. Pipe in New Jersey. In 1989, he moved to Maine, working as a pipe fitter at Bath Iron Works until his illness forced his early retirement in 2007.
Roy loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed fishing with his son, Jay, on Medomak Pond. He was a handyman for everyone and would go to anyone’s rescue that needed help. He was especially handy to his adopted mother, Edith, whom he visited every day, delivering her mail, taking care of the dogs, grocery shopping and keeping her bird feeders full.
His greatest passion in life was farming, and riding his farm tractor. He mowed all of the fields that he could, filling his barn and delivery for anyone needing hay.
Roy is predeceased by three children, twins, Jennifer and Mark, and Gary Ingling.
Survivors include a son Jay E. Ingling of Warren; daughters, Melissa M. Ingling of Washington and Rachel E. Sampson of Fort Myers, Fla.; brother, Eber D.Q. Ingling, Jr. of Alberta, Ala.; and sisters, Linda Flowers of Tom s River, N.J., Nancy Ingling of Mount Holly, N.J., and Debbie Ingling of Union, Va.
Celebration of Roy’s life 2 p.m., Sun., Jan. 20 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, with Rev. Mark Holden officiating. A time of visitation will follow. Interment will be in Orff Cemetery in the spring.
