Roy O. Dresser, 65, of Whitefield, died Nov. 4 after fighting a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer.
He was born in Lewiston Jan. 13, 1941, the son of Wyman M. and Ida Severance Dresser. He attended school in Bolsters Mills and Norway High School.
Roy was a lifelong building contractor and began his craft at the age of nine, building the family homestead with his father, then teaching his son and son-in-law, John.
He lived in Harrison, Norway and central Florida, working as a finish carpenter. Most recently, he lived with his daughter, Bonnie, in Whitefield in a home he built for her.
He was always the first to lend a hand, never expecting anything in return.
He was a member of the Oakdale Cemetery Association, the Conservation Commission for the Town of Harrison, and the 4-H Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling and stock car racing. He faithfully attended the Fryeburg Fair and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Donald and David, and earlier this year, Marshall.
He leaves behind his beloved 1½-year-old, poma-poo, Spanky; son, Gerry G. Dresser and fiancée Stacey A. Raymond of Bolsters Mills; daughters, Charlotte C. Bolduc and companion Michael H. Rose of Arlington, Mass., and Bonnie S. Pedersen and husband John of Whitefield; grandchildren, Danielle Bolduc, Cory and Ryan Pedersen and Devon and Danielle Richards; brother, Bruce Dresser and sister, Beverly Whitman, both of Norway.
