Russell E. Wotton Sr., 79, of Waldoboro, died April 19 at his home. He was born May 28, 1933 in Friendship to Willie and Julie Winchenbach Wotton. He grew up and attended local schools in Friendship.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War. He worked for White’s Dairy in Union for many years. He later worked for Wendell Reed as a lobster buyer for over 15 years and as a mason for 18 years with Myron Neal. He worked for the town of Friendship on the road crew and especially enjoyed snow plowing.
He enjoyed cooking homemade meals, gardening, bird watching, driving his car and looking at new cars.
He was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Julie Wotton; son, Russell Wotton Jr.; daughter, Theresa Peterson; longtime girlfriend, Margie Wallace; and brothers, Myron and Alfred Wotton.
He is survived by son, Timothy D. Wotton of Rockport; sister, Shirley Benner of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Kristy Wotton of Rockport, Amanda Peterson of Rockland, Brittney Wotton of Camden, Willie Wotton of Thomaston, Amber Wotton of Thomaston, Amander Wotton of Windsor, Drake Grant of Massachusetts, and Marika Crockett of Warren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service with military honors 2 p.m., Wed., April 24 at Harbor Cemetery in Friendship.
