Ruth Elizabeth Hagen, 90, of East Boothbay, died Nov. 19 at St. Andrews in Boothbay Harbor.
She was born Nov. 14, 1916 in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, a daughter of the late John Thomas and Ella Bertha (Fisher) Hagen.
Ruth lived in the Dorchester and Jamaica Plain area of Massachusetts most of her life. She graduated from a Boston area high school and attended secretarial school in Massachusetts. She worked at the Raytheon Submarine Signal Division for many years in the Boston area.
Ruth was active in the Greenwood United Methodist Church in Boston where she served as treasurer for many years; she was also active in the Walliston Garden Club in Boston. She loved to play golf.
Following her retirement, she moved to East Boothbay with her sister, Marjorie. After moving to the Boothbay area she joined the United Methodist Church in Boothbay Harbor.
Ruth is survived by a niece, Martha Barker and husband Seth of East Boothbay; four nephews, Dean Meggison and wife Jeanne of Kennebunk, Keith Meggison and wife Jane of Gorham, Chris Hagen and wife Jeri of Las Vegas, Nev., and Starbuck Danforth of Keene, N.H.; and many grand nieces, grand nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.
Service to celebrate Ruth’s life 11 a.m., Sat., Dec. 2 at the United Methodist Church in Boothbay Harbor. Interment will be at the convenience of her family in the family lot in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Framingham, Mass.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coast of Maine Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
