Ruth J. Hodgdon, 91, of Westport Island, passed away at the Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta on the morning of Nov. 13.
Born in Northborough, Mass. on March 6, 1920, she was the daughter of Everett and Flora (Sinclair) Blakely.
She worked many years as a nurse at the former Thorton’s Nursing Home in Northborough, Mass. before moving to Maine in the early 1960s. She went to work as a nurse at Miles Memorial Hospital until marrying her husband, Lester W. Hodgdon, on May 6, 1966.
She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, as well as doing puzzles and crocheting. She loved going for a ride and enjoying a meal out on the town. She also adored her cats, and all animals.
She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Blakely; and sons, Wade and Danny Kinney.
She is survived by her husband, Lester W. Hodgdon of Westport Island; as well as many nieces and nephews.
