Ruth Pauline “Polly” Bartasevich, 93, of Damariscotta, passed away early on the morning of May 25 at Miles Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Jacob B. and Mary (Himelrick) Sine, she was born Sept. 6, 1913 in Ft. Worth, Tex.
Polly grew up in Morgantown, W.Va. and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1931.
She was married to her first husband, Albert Sanders, for 12 years.
On Oct. 29, 1948 she married Julius Bartasevich. They were married for 37 years and spent most of their life in Morgantown, W.Va.
After retirement, they lived in Dover, Del., Walpole, and Greenville, S.C. Polly was most recently a resident of Schooner Cove in Damariscotta for 18 years. Last May she moved to Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro.
Polly was a homemaker and employed part time for many years in a Morgantown department store.
She loved her travels to Madeira Island in Portugal, England, and Hawaii. She also enjoyed gardening and especially loved her flowering trees and shrubs.
She was a faithful member of several church organizations and sang in the choir in churches in Morgantown, W.Va. She was a former member of the Olde Bristol Garden Club in Damariscotta.
She was predeceased by her husband, Julius, in 1985.
Polly is survived by her daughter, Sandra Cheney and husband Daniel of Pemaquid; son, Barry Bartasevich of Hudson; grandchildren, Mark Cheney and wife Cynthia of Pemaquid, Leslie Bolster and husband Gregory of Bristol, and Susan Cheney of New Jersey; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Tyler Cheney of Pemaquid, and Chad, Katherine, and Matthew Bolster of Bristol.
Polly will be laid to rest, with a service honoring her memory, 3 p.m., Tues., May 29 at the Harrington Cemetery in Pemaquid, with Pastor Rick Newell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Polly’s memory to Bristol First Responders, 104 Southside Rd., New Harbor, ME 04554.
Arrangements are entrusted to Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Damariscotta.
