Ruthena T. Clark, 90, of Topsham, and formerly of Edgecomb, died June 4 at Amenity Manor in Topsham.
She was born in Wiscasset on April 12, 1919, a daughter of Ervin S. and Arnieta M. (West) Thompson.
She attended Wiscasset schools and graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1937. Until she moved to Topsham in 2006, she never missed an alumni gathering of her class.
In 1942, she married Edward C. Clark. Ruthena lived in Edgecomb with three other service wives during the war. After the war, she and Edward made it their home.
Ruthena was a well-known waitress at the Dodge Inn, located at the current site of Bintliff’s Ocean Grille in Edgecomb. After Dodge Inn closed, she was employed at L.L. Bean as a packer and received many performance awards. She was a faithful shopper at the employee store.
Ruthena was always busy. She enjoyed picking strawberries and peas in the summer, crocheting and knitting in the winter, and picking shrimp in the spring. She was a perfectionist at everything she did.
Ruthena was a sun lover and could be seen sun bathing on her chaise longue or with Edward in their boat. They were members of the Downeast Yacht Club.
She loved her AKC Boxer dogs.
