Sally Jean Alexander, 73, of Westport Island, passed away on March 22. She was born on Aug. 13, 1937 in Steuben, the daughter of Isaac W. and Priscilla F. Faulkner Rainey. She is a graduate of Morse High School class of 1955 and attended college in the Boston area.
Sally worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for many years, where she met her husband, Tom. She also worked for SUPSHIP Bath, as the Manager of the Hazardous Waste Dept. until her retiring in the mid 90s.
Sally was a lover of animals, dogs especially. She volunteered many hours at the Humane Society working with the canine programs. She had several dogs of her own that she personally trained and competed with in the dog shows. Although all her dogs were loved by her, “Elsa” was her baby. She won several ribbons that made her proud.
Sally was an avid reader, always a book in her hands and also made jewelry. Every summer you could find her on Prince Edward Island in her summer home.
Sally is predeceased by her husband, Tom Alexander; son, Tom Alexander Jr. in 2010; and brother, Clark Rainey.
She is survived by brother, Leonard Rainey of Bath; very special friend, Mai Allison of Brunswick; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
At her request there will be no services.
