Sandra Blais, of Farmingdale, passed away at her home Sept. 13 after a courageous battle with cancer with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Belfast March 5, 1943 to Fostell and Muriel Annis Taylor. She was educated in Gardiner schools and graduated from Gardiner High, class of 1961.
Sandra was a caretaker. She took care of her mother for nearly 13 years. She worked at Walters Home in Hallowell for 25 years as a CRMA and CAN. She also worked at Hillside Terrace.
Sandra was also very active in her church, Seventh Day Adventist church in Farmingdale. She sang in the church choir. She always made sure every birthday was recognized. Sandra particularly loved to make baked goods for her family, friends, and neighbors. Her yard could always be counted on for beautifully maintained flowerbeds. Sandra loved life and lived it full of gusto.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert Blais; beloved daughters, Elizabeth Buotte and husband James of Chelsea, and Rebecca Dyer and husband Paul Sr. of Gardiner; treasured sons, Walter Bates Jr. and wife Cindy of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Timothy Bates and companion Carrie of Hallowell; grandchildren, Heather Seigars, Jason Buotte, Cheryl Criniti, Walter Bates III, Megan Bates, Nick Bates, Valerie Jensen, Paul Dyer Jr., and Tyler Dyer; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Andrea Gilpatrick and husband Wilbur of Richmond, and Valerie Jones and husband Robert of Jefferson; brother, Fred Taylor and wife Shirley of Farmingdale; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services 2 p.m., Tues., Sept. 18 at the Seventh Day Adventist church in Farmingdale. Burial will be private.
