Sandra Marie Cunningham, 69, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Jan. 19 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. Sandra was born on July 22, 1945 in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Charlene Stackpole and Fred Paige.
Growing up in Hartland she attended local schools. Her working career brought her to the tannery of the local shoe factory, a position she would hold for many years until becoming sick and not being able to continue working. After finishing up at the shoe factory, she moved to Pittsfield where she would settle down before her health issues forced her to be closer to family.
She fought courageously for many years as her health declined but she always tried to make sure people would see her smile. One of her favorite pastimes was watching television. Sandra enjoyed shows like Bonanza, Gun Smoke, and Walker Texas Ranger as she was a huge Chuck Norris fan. Sandra enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, and in her younger years, going dancing. She loved country music, especially the music of Conway Twitty.
In her later years she read her Bible daily and was always interested in what it could help her with. She enjoyed reading it and participating in Bible study programs.
She is survived by children, Daisy Cunningham and companion Alex Echevarria of Wiscasset, Lisa Lowery of North Carolina, Edward “Eddie” Young of Maine, Laurie Young of Virginia, and Wanda Worster of Maine; and grandchildren, Alex Jr., Craig, Jessica, Ryan, Ross, Nicole, and Josh.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
