Sarah Davison-Jenkins, passed away on Jan. 9 after a short illness. Sarah owned and ran The Tipsy Butler bed & breakfast in Newcastle for eight years, where she lived with her husband, Tony.
Sarah was born in the United Kingdom on July 14, 1967. As a young person, she lived in Canada, Bahrain and England and moved from London to New York in her 20s, where she worked for an investment bank and met Tony. After marrying her beloved husband, Sarah and Tony moved to Maine to become owners of The Tipsy Butler.
The Tipsy Butler was her project and passion. Her easy, gregarious nature made her so popular with guests that many returned numerous times. Sarah stamped her personality on The Tipsy Butler from the moment she took over, effortlessly making friends, and providing warm hospitality and a great welcome. She instinctively understood what her guests needed and would appreciate. She would add special and personal touches linked to any events the guests may be attending during their stay to ensure that their stays were unforgettable. Sarah clearly thrived at being the innkeeper and did everything she could to make her guests comfortable. The imaginative breakfasts she provided are frequently mentioned in her guest books.
Sarah was funny, playful, and kind, and had tremendous enthusiasm for travel and new experiences. Her family loved to receive her amusing travelogues from such places as Chile, Turkey, and Costa Rica. Her ability to endear herself to so many people that she met on these trips left her with lifelong friends around the world.
Sarah loved her family in England, and she and Tony visited as often as they could. She loved her brothers and their young families, providing thoughtful gifts, cuddles and above all treasured memories each time she visited. Sarah was courageous, adventurous, and open-minded, and had a huge zest for life.
Sarah is survived by husband, Tony; parents, John and Gemma; and brothers, Tom and James.
