Scott A. Craig, 61, of Portland, passed away at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on May 1. Born on Feb. 27, 1949 in Beverly, Mass., he was the son of Earle and Mildred (Day) Craig.
Scott was born in Massachusetts, but being part of a military family, he moved quite often. He graduated from Bristol High School and later went to business school for two years. He worked at the Eastland Hotel in Portland for over 25 years. After getting done at the Eastland, he went to work at the Portland Jetport. That was a job he loved and he worked there for about 10 years before his illness made it too difficult to work.
Scott was a train enthusiast and loved both watching and traveling aboard them. He enjoyed both science fiction and electronics, and was fascinated by the weather, so much so that he would watch the weather channel for hours.
He was predeceased by his father, Earl Craig; stepfather, John Walsh; as well as his wife, Deborah (Bickford) Craig, who passed away in 1985.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Walsh of Bremen; daughter, Shari Lawrence and husband Chris of Salem, Mass.; son, Josh Craig and wife Kelli of Bristol; siblings, Willard Craig of Bristol, George Craig of Bremen, Rusty Walsh of Bremen and Ruth Burchstead of Augusta; as well as two grandsons, Isaac Craig and Jacob Craig, both of Bristol.
Graveside service for Scott 2 p.m., Fri., May 7 at the New Harbor Cemetery.
