Scott R. Nichols, 35, passed away on Nov. 25 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with his loving family at his side.
He was born Aug. 9, 1972 in Rockland, a son of Bruce A. and Charlotte Szymanski Nichols. Growing up in Waldoboro, Scott attended Miller, AD Gray and Medomak Valley High Schools.
He was a harness horse jockey who drove many winners to the winner’s circle at Pompano Beach, Fla. and Plainville, Mass. He was a member of the U.S.T.A. harness racing association. He loved racing and the triumph of winning. He was an avid sports fan.
Scott will be remembered as always being able to talk to anyone and known as a good “story teller.” He will be especially missed by his nieces and nephews who know that he always expressed an interest in their lives as well as the love he felt for them.
He is predeceased by his father, Bruce A. Nichols; and brother, Christopher Nichols.
Survivors include his mother, Charlotte Nichols of Waldoboro; sister, Kelly Nichols of Waldoboro; brothers, William Collins of Appleton, Stephen Collins of Nobleboro, Peter Collins of Waldoboro, Bruce F. Nichols of Waldoboro, and Thomas Nichols of Whitefield; and nieces and nephews, Will Collins of Appleton, Hillary and Hannah Collins of Nobleboro, Gregory Collins of Nobleboro, Blake Nichols of Waldoboro, and Breanna and Charlotte Nichols of Waldoboro.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 29 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Scott’s life 11 a.m., Fri., Nov. 30 at Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.
