Shannon Kirsten Hunter, 39, of Waldoboro, died unexpectedly March 15 at her home. She was born on Nov. 3, 1972 in Nashville, Tenn. as the youngest child of Marvin and Linda Martin. Throughout her life, Shannon left a lasting impression on all who met her. Friends she made at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. continued to call on her in good times and bad, no matter how far the years or miles took them apart.
After graduating from college, Shannon worked as a song plugger in the country music industry in Nashville, Tenn. During that time she met her loving husband, Patrick. They were married Oct. 14, 2000. Soon afterwards, the two decided to move to Maine after falling in love with the state. There they raised four beautiful children, Sam, Kelvy, Temple and Iska.
She epitomized the role of homemaker through her loving devotion to her family. No matter the task, Shannon put their needs above her own at all times. Shannon also delighted in being a Doula and assisting mothers in bringing their babies into the world. Shannon held to a great faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She was predeceased by her mother, Linda Martin.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband, J. Patrick Hunter of Waldoboro; loving children, Sam I. Hunter, McKelvy H. Hunter, and twin girls, Temple S. Hunter and Iska R. Hunter all of Waldoboro; father, Marvin Martin of Sante Fe, N.M.; brothers, Michael Martin and wife Jill of Kenmore, Wash., Jeffrey King and wife Sidney of Scottsboro, Ala., and Brenden Martin and wife Leah of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sisters, Kerri Culotta and husband Jake of Birmingham, Ala., and Cheryl Strick and husband Danny of Armonk, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, Jake Robert, Peter, Mary Catherine, Rachel, Ben, Josie, Noah, Nicholas, Eric, Gabe and Luke; aunts, Rosalee Landry of Bristol, and Maryedith McFarlin of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Funeral mass 10 a.m., Tues., March 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. Father Frederick Morse will lead the mass.
