Shari Leeman Randall, 51, of Liberty, surrounded by her many loving family members and lifelong friends from high school, and Beal College, and her coworkers, lost her four year courageous battle with breast cancer on April 2 at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Shari was born on Dec. 3, 1958 in Thayer Hospital in Waterville, to Jerome M. and Elizabeth A. (Sullivan) Leeman. She graduated from Belfast High School in 1977, and from Beal College in 1979. She also graduated as a Medical Assistant from Kennebec Valley Technical Institute. While in school she had a passion for athletics and played on the volleyball and softball teams.
She married Cliff Randall, became a mom to Danny and Geoffrey. She became very involved as a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout leader, including planning, fund raising, and participating in a memorable trip to Nova Scotia for the troop. Shari also was involved in local, tee ball, farm team baseball, and Bum League Basketball. She served as Liberty Recreation Director, served on the Liberty Community Hall Committee, and organized the St. Jude Hospital Bike-a-thon held in Liberty.
She was proud of her medical assistant status and worked locally in Belfast for Dr. Thanhauser, Dr. Kamins, and Bayview Physical Therapy. In 2005 she became an employee of Penobscot Bay Physician and Associates and worked at their Waldoboro Family Medicine Practice where she remained until her passing.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Leeman, on May 16, 2006.
In addition to her parents of Searsport, Shari is survived by sons, Geoffrey Randall of Liberty and Daniel and wife Katie of Swanville; brothers, Shawn and wife Amy and their son, Sean of Liberty, and Scott Leeman of Winterport; sister, Stacy Bridges and son Trevor of Searsport; sister-in-law, Cheryl Leeman; former husband, Cliff Randall; uncles, Larry Sullivan and wife Sandra of Hampden, Bradley Leeman of Jefferson, Carl Moody and wife Brenda of Liberty and Harvey Roberts of Palermo; aunts, Maureen Richards of Camden and Gaye Roberts of Belfast; many cousins, nephews and nieces; the Beal Girls, Val, Pam, Darleen, Penny, Rose, Julie, Ella, and Nancy from Beal College; long time friend Karen Ashton Cronin; Cancer Group Support Partner Karen Garland; coworkers from Waldoboro Family Medicine and PBPA Billing Dept. who remained by her bedside until the end; as well as her many friends in the community and from the Waldo County YMCA Volleyball.
Memorial service to celebrate Shari’s life will be announced at a later date.
