Sharon D. O’Brien, 74, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Nov. 14 at Quarry Hill. She was born on July 21, 1937, the daughter of the late Earl and Marjorie Hilton Day.
She was born and raised in Waldoboro where she attended local schools and was a graduate of Waldoboro High School class of 1954. She met and married her husband Robert in 1955 and the couple began their family. Sharon worked at Sylvania in Waldoboro for 35 years retiring in 2005. Robert was a barber for 42 years with his shop located on Main Street in Waldoboro.
She was an avid reader and could read a book a day. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, beano with her friends and couldn’t resist a new scratch off game. She was a great cook and never made a dish the same way twice. She was always able to walk into the kitchen throw some things together and turn out a masterpiece. During the holiday season, she would make wreaths and always went over the top on her Christmas decorations.
In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with friends and going out for lunch at Moody’s. It was also during this time that she was able to spend time with her great-granddaughter which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a caring person and was always willing to lend a hand, a trait she used well while caring for her sister as her health began to fade. She left a lasting impression on all that knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Robert O’Brien; siblings, Constance Day and Bryce Plummer Day; and granddaughter, Tara O’Brien.
Survivors include her children, Gena O’Brien of San Jose, Cal., Steven O’Brien and wife Kathleen of Rockport, Erin Harrison and husband Michael of San Diego, Cal., and Michael O’Brien of Magnolia, Ark.; siblings, Donald Day of Topsfield, Mass., Victoria Hyde of Pittston, Richard Day of Waldoboro, Robert Day of Jefferson, and Lee Day of Melbourne, Australia; grandchildren, Nicole Blake and husband Neal of Camden, Dustin O’Brien and wife McKenzie of Shrewsbury, Mass., Derek O’Brien of Rockport, Shane O’Brien of Rockport, Ashley O’Brien of Portland, Ore., and Seth Harrison of San Diego, Cal., and great-granddaughter, Adeline Blake of Camden.
