Shirley A. Colson (Simmons), 55, died peacefully Oct. 27 at Maine Medical Center in Portland of many ongoing health complications.
Shirley lived in Maine her whole life. She was born in Friendship on July 30, 1957, attended local schools and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1975.
Shirley loved her family very much and was proud of every single one of them. She was always helping people when they needed it. She loved Bingo, search-a-word, piecing together puzzles, watching old Westerns and cats.
She could always manage to bring a smile to anyone’s face on the darkest of days. She had a huge heart. Shirley worked for Chickadee Laundry and Log Cabin in her years of life. Shirley spent the past 12 years at Lucettes in Thomaston.
She was predeceased by her parents, Irvin D. Simmons Jr. and Frances Simmons; and brother, Ronald Simmons.
Shirley is survived by her partner, Andy Sargent; daughter, Melissa Lima, husband Jason of Derry, N.H. and children, Andrea and Kacey; sister, Sally Wile and husband Bill Wile Sr. of Waldoboro; nieces and nephews, Bill Wile Jr. and companion Tammy MacIntire of Waldoboro, Crystal Earnest and husband David of Waldoboro, and Robin Wile of Waldoboro; and great-nieces and nephew, Chelsea, Shelbe, Anya, Dennis and Elaine. She is also survived by her best friend, Coral Brown. They did everything together, where one of them was the other one was sure to be found.
Celebration of life for Shirley 1 p.m., Sun., Nov. 18 the Grange Hall at the end of Route 90 on the Route 1 end.
