Spc. Aron Linwood Peaslee, 26, passed away Feb. 13 at his home in Somerville.
He was born Feb. 4, 1981, in Rockport, a son of Neil Aron and Susan Alice Goodwin Peaslee.
He was a graduate of Erskine Academy, Class of 1999.
In 1998, while attending his junior year in high school, Aron joined the U.S. Army National Guard, receiving full military honors. In 2003 and 2004, he served in Kuwait in the 1136th Transportation Company, 133rd National Guard, and was a veteran of (O.I.F.I.) Operation Iraqi Freedom I.
He was employed by Barry Tibbetts, farming for the last 14 years, a job he held since he started high school.
Aron belonged to the Somerville Fire Department, and the South Somerville Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his contributions to the Somerville Day Association. He worked for the Windsor Ambulance and was the E.M.A. Director for the Town of Somerville. He volunteered for Youth Promise in Lincoln County, Habitat for Humanity in Portland and Louisiana. He was a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.
Aron will be remembered for his generosity and giving time to help those in need. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Forest (Sr.) and Delia Peaslee.
Survivors include his parents, Neil and Susan Peaslee of Somerville; sisters, Penny Cooley, and Katie Peaslee of Somerville; brothers, Adam Peaslee and wife Missy of Somerville, and Spc. Eric Peaslee and wife Kendra of Somerville; grandparents, Milicent and Donald Moody of Wells; three nieces, and four nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Fri. Feb. 16.
Visiting hours will also be held 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Sat., Feb. 17, followed by a celebration of Aron’s life at 2 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro with Pastor John Dancer officiating.
A spring committal service will be held at Sand Hill Cemetery in Somerville; the date and time will be announced at a later date.
