Stanley E. Hooper, 60, of Waldoboro, passed away at his home on Jan. 4. Stanley grew up in Machias and attended local schools graduating from Machias High School and then from the University of Maine at Machias.
After completing college, he went on to work in law enforcement for 20 years before retiring in 2003.
Stanley loved sports and everything to do with Boston. He loved the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins and was always invested in his teams. In fact he was so invested that, after having heart surgery, the doctors would only let him watch games if they were able to give him something to keep him calm.
Stanley loved spending time with his wife and family, intelligent conversations, and playing the guitar. There was nothing more that he loved than picking up his guitar and playing a song for his family.
He was predeceased by brother, Gary Hooper; son, James Michael Hooper; and mother-in-law, Jimmie Lou Cutwright.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lynda Hooper of Waldoboro; son, William Hooper of Rio Dosa, N.M.; daughters, Jessica Hooper and fiancé Kevin Rahkonen of Spruce Head, and Lindsay Carlson and husband Christopher of Orland; 11 loving grandchildren; brother, Darren Hooper of Florida; and parents, Stanley and Joyce Hooper of Florida.
A military funeral will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
