Stephen Aaron Levine, 66, of Newcastle, passed away Oct. 31 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Born on July 20, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Abraham and Gertrude Levine.
Mr. Levine grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. and attended Brooklyn Polytech Institute. He furthered his education at M.I.T., where he received his degree in Aeronautical Engineering and later earned his M.B.A. from Boston College.
He was a successful businessman in the computer software industry. After retirement, he moved to Florida and later to Asheville, N.C.
He was an active member of the Asheville community, supporting alternative healthcare initiatives and the arts. Above all, he was a lover of life and enjoyed all that it had to offer.
He is survived by two children, Carrie Levine of Newcastle, and Alex Levine of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; grandchildren, Aidan Manahan and Isabelle Manahan, both of Newcastle, and Lily Caffrey-Levine of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; and sister, Dawn Goldman of Los Angeles, Cal.
Memorial service 3 p.m., Sun., Nov. 5 at the M.I.T. chapel, 77 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, Mass. A reception will immediately follow the service.
