Stephen L. Genthner, 50, of Damariscotta, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of Dec. 31. He was born to Billie Hariff and Richard Genthner on Dec. 17, 1968 at St. Mary’s in Lewiston. He grew up and went to local schools in Lisbon.
Around the age of 20, Steve became a lobsterman in Round Pond, following in his father’s footsteps. About a decade ago, he became a contractor and proprietor of Coastal Roof Restoration and Home Improvement, proving hard work and perseverance were key to success.
Steve was a no-nonsense sort of man, who was always honest, jovial, and wore his heart on his sleeve. He was well known and liked within the community, and was always one you could count on to share a beer with and have a laugh. He will be missed.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Billie and Richard.
He is survived by son, Kyle Genthner and partner Catrina Cozens; siblings, Michael Miller, Karen Crichald, Rebecca Horr, Bruce Renchy, Ricky Sawtell, Glenn Griffin, William Genthner, and Heath Genthner; other mother, Carol Genthner; and ex-wife, Traci Genthner.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-6 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 10 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. A celebration of life will follow the gathering at the Wells-Hussey American Legion Post 42 in Damariscotta.
