Stephen Frank Racz, 83, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away on May 26 at Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Chicago, Ill. on March 24, 1925, the son of John and Anna Fuzar Racz, immigrants from Budapest, Hungry. Stephen attended local schools in Chicago.
He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a first class welder, retiring from Bliss Portland and Bath Iron Works.
In his younger years he was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and boating. He enjoyed reunions and traveling with his family. He will be remembered for his honesty, generosity and his willingness to help others.
Stephen is predeceased by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Evelyn Racz of Boothbay Harbor; son, Stephen Alan Racz of Boothbay Harbor and Portland; daughters, Mary Alice Racz of Boothbay Harbor, and Susan Sellick of Edgecomb; grandchildren, Matthew Racz of Springfield, Mo., Michael Racz, Daniel Racz, and Joel Racz all of Biddeford, Nathan Goodwin, Gabriel Goodwin, and Melissa Nix, all of Boothbay Harbor; Lhea Sellick of East Boothbay, and Nichols Sellick of Wiscasset; great-grandchildren, Madison Nix of Boothbay Harbor, Michael J. Dean Pinkham of East Boothbay, Nicholas J. Sellick of Wiscasset, Curtis Bibber of Boothbay Harbor, and Malakai and Gavin Racz; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service in his honor 1 p.m., Tues., June 10 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
