Stephen (Randy) Randall Parmley, 65, of Morristown, N.J. and Waldoboro, passed away peacefully at his home in Waldoboro on July 26.
He was known for his love of nature and his many talents as a stone mason/sculptor, woodworker, painter, poet, and musician. He had boundless energy and was committed to his practice of yoga. You can find his stonework in Augusta as he and a partner, Norman Casas, crafted the granite steps for the Blaine House. He was also commissioned by the Nobleboro School to do a Percent for Art project called Earth Sun Moon and Stars. The children really enjoyed it because it was made for them to be able to touch and play on. He created numerous fountains and birdbaths for people and businesses in Camden, Rockport, Portland and many other areas up and down the coast. One of his most wonderful stone sculptures, a stone boat with stone sails, can be seen before the Wiscasset Bridge. He also built a multi-tiered granite waterfall installation in New Jersey for a cancer hospital.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Laura Kane of Los Angeles, Cal.; son, Cassidy Parmley and wife Bethany of Washington; grandchildren, Ilie and Finn; and daughter, Jessica Parmley of Los Angeles, Cal.; and brothers, Robin Parmley of Kapaa, Hawaii, and Rodney Parmley of Potsdam, N.Y.
There will be a celebration of his life at the end of December. Dates and times will be announced.
