Stephen W. Brann, 55, of Coopers Mills, died Aug. 19 at Maine-General Medical Center following a long battle with illness, with loving family by his side.
He was born in Whitefield on Sept. 24, 1951, the son of Maurice J. and Harriette (Ripley) Brann. He graduated from Erskine Academy in 1970.
Soon after graduating, Steve was employed by Cives Steel Corp., where he worked for more than 30 years. There, he was a dedicated employee who took great pride in his work and involvement with the local union.
Steve loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and gardening. He always wanted to be the first to put his peas in the ground. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, and woodworking. One of his most recent projects was building Adirondack chairs, which he sold by the roadside or gave to family members.
Steve was never one to travel great distances unless it was to visit his sons. He was always happiest when his boys were by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Allen E. Brann.
He is survived by two sons, Rusty Brann and girlfriend Barbie Thompson of Wilton, and Darren Brann and fiancée Michelle Merrill of Augusta; brothers, Maurice Brann, Jr. and wife Rita of Randolph, and A. Wayne Brann and wife Carol of Coopers Mills; sister, Deborah and husband Scott Kenoyer of Windsor; sister-in-law, Elaine Brann of Augusta; ex-spouse, Audrey Shorty of Windsor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no public visiting hours.
