Sue Ellen Carter, 62, of Jefferson, died July 17 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. She was born Dec. 1, 1946 in Damariscotta, a daughter of Arthur and Katherine Sidelinger Hilton. She grew up in Damariscotta and graduated from Lincoln Academy.
She married Charles H. Carter on March 10, 1964 and they moved to Jefferson in 1966. She resided in her home in Jefferson for the last 40 years.
She was a bookkeeper for Bond Brothers Lumber in Jefferson for over 20 years. She loved gardening, reading, sewing and making crafts. She really enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren. She was also very fond of her cats.
She was predeceased by a son, Michael Carter and by her husband, Charles H. Carter.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Pierce and husband Jeffrey of Damariscotta; grandchildren, Corey Alan Wade of Damariscotta, and Danielle Marie Pierce of Damariscotta; brothers-in-law, William E. Carter of Newcastle, and Dale Carter of Washington state; special cousin who spent many days caring for Sue, Donna Parlin of Waldoboro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service to celebrate Sue’s life 1 p.m., Tues., July 21 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Rev. Robert Dorr will officiate. Burial will follow in the Village Cemetery in Jefferson.
