Tatiana Samarin Partridge, 89, of Newcastle, a woman of exceptional culture, died July 13 at the Lincoln Home in Newcastle.
Born in London, England of ‘White’ Russian emigree parents. She had lived a life made notable by her accomplishments. A graduate of Hunter College (NYC, N.Y.) and a scholar of the Asian Studies Department at Yale University, Tatiana worked for the U.S. State Department as a young woman and then married antique dealer Jack Partridge of London and New York City.
After living many years in New York, she and Jack moved to Edgecomb where they operated Partridge Antiques. Midway through her life Tatiana developed a passionate interest in and a love for the Saluki hound, a dog known to have graced the thrones and tombs of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs. Thereafter she bred and exhibited champion Salukis, becoming instrumental in preserving the purity of the traditional age-old blood line. Tatiana’s life was further enriched by travelling abroad, gardening and the classical music and literature she surrounded herself with.
She is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Ludmilla Samarin, as well as her husband, Herbert Leonard Jack Partridge.
