Thelma R. Hall, 90, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of Jan. 23 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta. The daughter of Mildred (Tarr) and Samuel Reeves, she was born in Long Cove on Jan. 1, 1919.
She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Long Cove, later graduating from Bristol High School in 1937. Also in 1937, she married James Hall who predeceased her in 1978.
On June 5, 1996, she retired from Renys Department Store after 38 years of work. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, dancing, gardening and going to camp.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one granddaughter, Michele Oliver, in 1991; as well as two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by four children, Molly and husband Ernest Oliver of Newcastle, Colin and wife Marcia of Newcastle, James and wife Joan of Damariscotta, and Judith and husband Bruce Cheney of Pittsfield, N.H.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Reeves of Louisville, Ky.; special friends, Marceline Colby and Judy Campbell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held in the spring at the Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta.
