Theodore Wesley Clark Sr., 80, of Rome, N.Y., went home to be with the Lord on March 9 after a brief illness at the Hospice Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford, N.Y.
He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Damariscotta and moved from Maine to Rome, N.Y. with his family in 1982. He was a 1949 graduate of Bridge Academy in Dresden and attended the University of Maine 1954-1956. A Korean War Veteran, he served in the Air Force from 1950-1954. As a carpenter/contractor most of his life, he enjoyed working part-time at ACE Hardware in Rome, N.Y. during his retirement years until age 79. Vegetable gardening was his passion, and he shared his bountiful harvests with family, friends and neighbors. He was a loving, generous soul who would help anyone who needed an encouraging word or a helping hand.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Faith Clark, and sister, Ruth Levalle.
Theodore is survived by his children, Kimberly Pruitt and husband John; Wesley Clark and wife Sherry, Theodore Clark Jr. and wife Susan; grandchildren, Casey, Kyle, Samuel, Kendall and Kaitlyn; and siblings, Edward and Nancy Clark, Errol Clark, Frank Clark, Shirley Lapierre, Margarita Clark,; Geraldine and Richard Gravell, Ellis and Susan Bailey, Larry and Anne Bailey and Henrietta and Edgar Rankin.
Memorial service 2 p.m., Sat., March 19 at the Beeches Inn and Conference Center, 7900 Turin Rd., Route 26N, Rome, N.Y.
