Theresa V. Coffin, 84, of Norridgewock, formerly of Bremen, passed away on Feb. 6 in Lakeland, Fla. Born on Aug. 25, 1929, she was the daughter of Mayo and Anna Schmidt.
Theresa grew up, and attended schools in Boston, focusing her education on cooking. While in high school, she met Charles Coffin, and they would marry when Theresa was only 15 years old. They would start a family fairly soon after marriage, and when she wasn’t busy being a homemaker, she helped and supported Charles with his business ventures.
She loved to travel, and was especially fond of Florida, spending many years wintering there. Theresa was a wonderful cook, and was known for her corn chowder, baked stuffed lobsters, and piccalilli. Having been passed down through the generations, her recipes will live on in the hands of her daughter and granddaughter.
Theresa spent time fishing with her husband, but she usually cooked her wonderful meals and kept the campfires burning. She loved to sew, and do various crafts, especially crocheting. She quilted, and made many quilts for family members throughout the years. She also enjoyed passing the time with a good puzzle.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Coffin Sr.; and son, Charles J. Coffin Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa V. Bonneau of Mulberry, Fla., and Cheryl B. Kemper and husband Keel of Unity; son, Scott F. Coffin and wife Pat of Nobleboro; as well as six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sat., April 12 at the Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta, where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
