Thomas Davenport, of Round Pond, formerly of Accord, N.Y., son of Edward Davenport and Fanny Kiff Davenport died on Feb. 5, at Holmes Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla.
He was born Feb. 16, 1935 in Kingston, N.Y. and raised on Davenport Farms in Ulster County. He attended the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt. where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1957-1959. While farming Tom enjoyed designing and creating new farming tools, some of which are still being used by his nephews today. He was a member of the Rondout Valley School Board in the seventies. After farming he went on to be the founder/architect/builder of the still functioning Stone Dock Golf Course in High Falls, N.Y. He was an accomplished outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening. He was a very talented artist, and his watercolors are found displayed in the homes of many.
Tom is survived by his wife, Elaine Young Davenport of Bristol, Conn.; sons, Christopher Davenport and wife Janice Burton Davenport of Steamboat Springs, Col., and Dwight E. Davenport of Leander, Tex.; daughter, Margaret Davenport Randall and husband John of Richmond, N.H.; sisters, Natalie Bushnell of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Margaret Ann Drake and husband Richard Drake of Newburgh, N.Y.; grandchildren, Daeton Sterling Davenport, Dakota Austin Davenport, Delsea Hanna Davenport, Eliza Fannie Randall, and Lydia Hannah Randall; step-grandson, Troy A. Tucker; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Robert Davenport and Mrs. Gordon Davenport; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service will be held this spring in Ulster County, N.Y.
