Thomas Eric Woodbury, 70, of Damariscotta, passed away Jan. 9 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, with family at his side.
He was born Nov. 12, 1937, in Damariscotta, a son of Thomas and Edith House Woodbury. He was a graduate of Lincoln Academy, class of 1955.
In November, 1955, he joined the U.S. Navy and had a 20-year career mastering to Master Chief, serving in several countries.
He was married to his first wife, Sandra Sproul, in 1959.
After his retirement from the Navy, he headed back to school and received a B.A. degree in accounting from the University of Maine. He held jobs in Augusta and Bangor. He was employed by Community Health and Counseling for 15 years, where he made many friends.
In 1993, he moved to Damariscotta from Bangor to care for his sick mother, Edith, who passed away in February, 1997.
On July 19, 1996, he married Madelyn H. Littlefield of Damariscotta. He obtained a position at Lou Abbotoni’s where he did accounting and tax work, which he loved.
He enjoyed animals, the computer, stocks, television, dining out and music.
Survivors include his loving wife, Madelyn of Damariscotta; daughter, Jolie Woodbury of Bronx, N.Y.; son, Mark Woodbury of Manhattan, Kan.; stepchildren, Dale Hunt and wife Kati of Jefferson and Kim Hunt Bisson of Pleasanton, Cal.; grandson, Eric Woodbury of Kansas; step-grandchildren, Gus and Lauren Hunt of Jefferson and Camille Bisson of Pleasanton, Cal.; two great-grandchildren; brother, Timothy Woodbury and wife Caroline of North Newcastle; an aunt; and many cousins.
Memorial service 1 p.m., Sat. Jan. 12 at the Second Congregational Church, Newcastle with the Rev. Ken Dale officiating.
