Thomas Francis Quinn, Jr., 81, of Southport, passed away Jan. 22 at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Rockport, following a brief period of failing health.
He was born Dec. 15, 1926, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Thomas F. and Matilda Blumetti Quinn. He was a graduate of Hillside High School in Hillside, N.J.
A veteran of WWII, he left school his junior year to enlist in the U.S. Navy, serving his enlistment time, then eight years in the reserves. After his discharge, he completed his high school education, and then began his employment with the American Can Co. in Newark, N.J. as a machinist. He was also employed with the Mayflower Vaporseal Corp in Little Ferry, N.J., and after moving to Boothbay Harbor in 1978, worked at Paul E. Luke, Inc. boat builders in East Boothbay, working until his illness forced him to stop work.
Mr. Quinn was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Quinn.
Survivors include his son, Thomas P. Quinn and wife Mary of Camden; and grandchildren, Ian Quinn and Brittany Quinn, both of Rockport.
Services will be private.
