Thomas W. MacGregor, 59, beloved son of Billie and Thomas H. MacGregor, died on Aug. 29.
Born Dec. 18, 1958 in Camden, N.J., Tom grew up in Easton, Penn. and Albany, N.Y. Tom enjoyed many summers on Biscay Pond in Bristol. He lived in Washington, D.C., Brooklyn, N.Y., Pemaquid, and Athens, N.Y. Tom graduated from Albany High School in 1976 and attended the University of Maryland, College Park and State University of New York at Albany, where his father was professor of mathematics for 31 years.
Tom worked at Leo Castelli Gallery, New York, and as studio manager for the artist Richard Artschwager for more than a decade; he oversaw the installation of several large-scale sculptural projects at sites in the U.S. and abroad. Following his years in the art world, Tom founded his own architectural design firm in Brooklyn, N.Y., completing residential projects in Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City, Pemaquid, and Amsterdam, N.Y.
In addition to his love of designing, building and renovating homes, Tom loved music, running marathons, and fishing with his father.
He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Marion MacGregor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; uncle, Lawrence Smith of Boothbay; and parents of Athens, N.Y.
