Thomas William “Bill” Rogers, 90, of Round Pond, passed away on April 6 in Rome, N.Y. after a short illness. Mr. Rogers was born in Salem, Mass. on March 5, 1921. After graduating from trade school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Mediterranean region during WWII.
He was employed by the ADT security company for many years, relocating to the Utica, N.Y. area. After retiring, he returned to Round Pond. Mr. Rogers was an avid hunter and fisherman, and after retiring he became a licensed SCUBA diver. He enjoyed boating on freshwater and on the ocean off the coast of Maine.
He was married to Virginia Ann Hoffman, who predeceased him in 2004. He was married for 45 years to Mary Louise Manning, who predeceased him in 2008. He was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Rogers, as well as his parents, Thomas L. and Elsie (Yates) Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is survived by a sister, Ann Baty and husband Richard of Round Pond; daughters, Jean Daniels and husband Charles of Avon Lake, Ohio, Lois Cahill of Chilton, N.Y. and Donna Umbel and husband William of Accident, Md.; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside service 10 a.m., Sat., May 14 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Round Pond.
