“Tiny” Leon E. Johnson, Jr., 59, of Somerville, passed away July 3 following a brief illness with his family surrounding him.
He was born July 14, 1947 in Gardiner, the son of Leon E. Johnson, Sr. and Lula (White) Johnson. Tiny was educated in the Gardiner school system.
He was employed as a heavy equipment operator by Bath Iron Works for almost 30 years. He was a member of Local 6 Union.
Tiny enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, riding his motorcycle, and hunting, fishing, and boating.
He was predeceased by his wife, Deborah (Sproul) Johnson on May 22, 1999, and his brother, Ernie.
He is survived by his companion, Debra Bryant of Somerville and her three children, Barbara Jean and family of Massachusetts, Bobbie-Jo, and Lori of Somerville; his five children, Sabrina Bowden and husband Walter of Somerville, Charity Heroux and husband Darrell of South China, Kathy Folsom and husband Ralph of Somerville, Tim Johnson and wife Sabrina of Somerville, and Jeff Johnson and wife Michelle of Somerville; grandchildren, Scott Bowden, Megan Bowden, Michael Johnson, Dylan Hickey, Dylan Heroux, Chase Folsom, Hunter Johnson, Bo Johnson, Rachel Johnson and Montana Johnson; brother, Calvin Heald of Hope, Ark.; sisters, Maxine Johnson of Holiday, Fla., Bea Luisi and Phyllis Hall, both of Newport-Richie, Fla., and Betty Polk of Pembroke; and several nieces and nephews.
At Tiny’s request, there will be no public visiting hours.
Graveside service 2 p.m., Sat., July 7 at the Johnson Family Cemetery, Dodge Rd., Somerville.
